Looking for historical data
« on: 01 April, 2016, 02:00:21 am »
I am looking for the longest history I can get from a single receiver or set of local receivers in JSON format.  Any advice on how to get that data?  Does AISHub allow downloading of historical data?  If so, how much?

I noticed the 2009-2016 archive of NAIS on the NOAA site, but the zip files contain .gdbtable files that I haven't found a library to parse.

Any advice would be appreciated.

AISHub does not store the AIS data. However, you can contact our colleagues at VT Explorer as they store&sell historical AIS data since 2009. You can read more at their website: http://www.vtexplorer.com/ais-analysis.html

I made a query and they responded with two query mechanisms, but both seem live (e.g., all the ships in an area).  None allow for specifying the date range.  And the amount of data I would like may be prohibitively expensive for research purposes.

Best,
