AIS decoders compared
« on: 15 April, 2015, 03:03:47 pm »
Over on the OpenCPN forum we have been running some comparative tests on various software AIS decoders. Further details can be found here http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/f134/ais-decoders-compared-144389.html.
It seems that AISDecoder normally only detects about 75% of the packets that AISMon does. However, one user has found that by pre-applying a 9.1kHz audio enhancement filter, the detection rate is much improved.
Do the developers of AISDecoder have any comment to make, and does this point to a means of improving the software?
Regards
Andrew

"It seems that AISDecoder normally only detects about 75% of the packets that AISMon does. "

Yesterday I tried to run AisMon and after few seconds it stops with "runtime error 9"... again and again and again... :'(
no way to keep it running... so, yesterday I can say that AisMon detected 1% of what aisdecoder detected...
that's the reason I'm moving to aisdetector...
