AIS Logging Device
« on: 27 February, 2012, 11:59:35 am »
Hi,
have any forum members encountered an AIS logging device?

I'm aware that it's possible to connect a PC and use that to log AIS data, but I'm looking for something simpler - a battery powered device that I can connect to an AIS receiver that logs data to internal memory (flash/etc).  Clearly it would be battery/storage constrained, but I'm just after a few hours of coverage.

I've googled for something similar without success - I welcome your greater expertise.

cheers,
Ian

You could try the Acumen Databridge serial data logger http://www.acumeninstruments.com
these are expensive, there are similar/cheaper products from Anticyclone Systems or Brigantine Electronics.  But check to see that the baud rate is compatible with your AIS receiver.
